Vilanculos Beach Lodge is a small exclusive and private lodge situated on mainland Mozambique 5km from Vilanculos Village It lies 700 km north of Maputo directly opposite the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago in the tropical Inhambane province

The chalets are luxury en-suite with either one or two bedrooms There are 10 chalets in total 5 for 2 persons with bedroom en-suite bathroom and veranda and 5 family with 2 bedrooms bathroom and veranda capacity 5 persons The maximum capacity of the lodge is 35 persons Each chalet is built on ironwood stilts with raised mahogany decks and a tasteful combination of mahogany and reed walls The chalets have total privacy and a magnificent sea view The beautifully constructed restaurant and bar offer traditional Mozambican and standard western cuisine From the comfort of the lodge you will be able to explore the exotic surroundings as well as have a perfect base to explore any of the archipelago islands

Getting there Access by road from RSA - The road is tarred all the way from Komatipoort border to Vilankulo and a 4x4 is not required There are a few potholes and areas under repair so keep an eye out for them Follow the main toll road from Komatipoort to Maputo Just before getting into Maputo you turn left onto the National road EN1 to the North Xai-Xai Inhambane Vilankulo Beira From this point the turn-off to the right towards Vilankulo is 750km Our signs will lead you from the village to the lodge which lies about 4km north of the village

Fly in from RSA - Vilankulo has an international airport and one can fly direct from Johannesburg International directly to Vilankulo There are also limited flights with LAM via Beira or Maputo to Vilankulo

Deep sea fishing The Bazaruto Archipelago area has some of the best game fishing in the world Hire one of our boats see activities or bring your own Safe parking for cars and trailers is available as well as a launching facility for boats in the town

Diving and Snorkelling Scuba diving packages and dives can be organised by the staff at the lodge or can be pre-booked The diving is arranged by an independent operator who services the lodge Snorkelling trips are also available from the lodge and snorkelling equipment is included in the boat hire price

Yacht cruises Cruises on various catamarans on charter in the area can be organised by the staff of the lodge Bookings done on arrival at the lodge

Non-motorised water sports Currently we have a laser sail boat surf ski canoes sea kayaks wind surfers and paddle skis These are available to our guests free of charge

Other activities The area is lovely for hiking through untouched nature with an incredible bird life The unspoilt and tranquil beaches are ideal for long scenic beach walks and shell collecting The sea is calm and shallow in front of the lodge and ideal for swimming and paddling The lodge is within close distance 5km from the village where one can visit the local market or just have a look around town One could also set sail for a day amongst the islands on a traditional Dhow Swimming pool and deck is also offered for those sundowners at the end of a perfect day
