Set on the East Coast of Zanzibar about 45 km from the airport Mapenzi Beach Club perfectly blends in the natural environment of the surrounding landscape covering an area of 4 hectares blessed with a long white sand beach warm turquoise sea and a tropical garden of palms and colourful bougainvillea

Located a little distance away from other hotels you are able to enjoy a large degree of privacy Also built in traditional Zanzibari style with a huge thatched makuti roof and coral walls it makes quite an impressive sight when you enter for the first time

The beach club is set in beautiful gardens and all rooms and public areas are built in traditional architectural style

Accomodation

There are 87 bungalows divided into three categories garden-view standard or seafront rooms Rooms are similar in size and d cor The closer you are to the beach the further you are from the lodge restaurant and pool

The comfortable rooms are all on the ground floor and each is furnished in the East African style with private bathroom veranda and other amenities

The bungalows are charming furnished in the traditional East African style Mosquito nets are provided over the beds and every room is fitted with individual air conditioning system ceiling fan telephone for internal use hairdryer and safe deposit box A nice veranda in front of each bungalow offers the perfect place to indulge in a moment of laziness and relaxation

If you can afford it the first row of seafront rooms are excellent These are located right on the beach so you step out of your room and onto the sand

Family accommodation is also offered in the stamdard rooms which have two rooms connected by an interleading door These rooms are all located at the front of the beachfront and the rooms can accommodate five people

All the rooms are attractively decorated with carved beds and doors and mosquito nets over the beds They are extremely comfortable and have verandas Each room has en-suite facilities with hot water a hairdryer air conditioning ceiling fan telephone fridge and safe deposit box

A nice veranda in front of each bungalow offers the perfect place to indulge in a moment of laziness and complete relaxation The rooms are comfortable and clean Most rooms have a view of the ocean Only a couple do not and they have views of the gardens which are well maintained The decor is traditional East African and they are very well maintained

Restuarants Bars

The main restaurant serves appetising international cuisine with an Italian touch where breakfast and lunch are buffet style whilst dinner is either a set menu or buffet

The open-air dining room has views of the ocean It is situated on an elevated platform which feels almost like the bow of a ship The interior is attractive with wooden chairs and tables adorned with colourful flowers picked from the verdant gardens Here you can enjoy a combination of international and local cuisine All meals are served here and both lunch and dinner are generous buffets

Next to the dining room is the main pub where you will get the same views before eating a wonderful dinner

There s a Beach Bar which serves drinks and a Pool Bar for snacks and cakes during the day In the evenings you can enjoy a variety of leisurely cocktails before or after dinner at the Pool Bar
