Nestling in the shadows of the Waterberg Mountains near Bela-Bela formerly Warmbaths Itaga is located in the greater Mabalingwe Game Reserve - a Malaria free area of Limpopo Province and home to the Big 5 It takes less than 2 hours to reach Itaga from Johannesburg and one hour thirty minutes from Pretoria travelling via the national Polokwane formerly Pietersburg road - one of the country s finest highways

Like many other private game reserves the lions at Mabalingwe are contained in a separate high security fenced area of the reserve It is necessary to book for a visit to the Mabalingwe Lion enclosure Wednesdays and Sundays at 9am - Cost R110 per person including transport to the Lion camp from Itaga Lodge Mabula Game Reserve about 25 minutes drive from Itaga Lodge also has a large area of their reserve where the lions roam freely in a separate and secure enclosure

Guided game drives in the 1 500 hectare Mabula Lion reserve can be arranged by prior appointment normal times 06H30 10H00 15H00 each day at a cost of R250 per person including transport from Itaga Lodge Visits to the lion enclosures at Mabalingwe or Mabula must be pre-booked after arrival at Itaga Lodge and will be subject to space availability based on the limited number of permitted visitors for each scheduled game drive viewing experience Visitors are not always guaranteed to see the lions as they can be elusive

Conference groups are encouraged to take over the entire lodge for the duration of their stay for total exclusivity and privacy The dining area and waterhole viewing deck are ideal for smaller breakaway group working sessions or for open air conference meetings where the only distraction may be the occasional visit of Rhino Elephant or other game to the nearby waterhole
