Breezes Beach Club is situated near the small village of Bwejuu on the East Coast of Zanzibar It is 60km from the airport approximately a 90-minute drive It is an elegant choice for luxurious beach accommodation on Zanzibar Located on the East Coast with all mod-cons and entertainment to hand Breezes Beach Club is the best of Zanzibar s larger hotels

The rooms at Breezes Beach Club are situated in lush palm-lined gardens a short distance from the beach All the rooms are identical in terms of size d cor and facilities but the superior deluxe and deluxe rooms are closer to the sea than the standard rooms

Accomodation

Each house is divided into two suites on the first floor each with a private terrace and semi-enclosed sitting area in addition to the bedroom and bathroom and four deluxe rooms on the ground floor with a smaller and less private terrace The standard rooms are in a bungalow row at the back of the resort near the tennis court though actually being further away from the seafront may feel more secluded and tranquil

All the buildings face towards the beach but being inland you can t really see the sea except from the foremost superior rooms That does mean the beachfront remains relatively quiet and you don t get the impression of being in a resort at all

All rooms are located in landscaped gardens with the Suites and the Deluxe rooms being located closer to the sea

Suites are situated on the upper floor of the bungalow with a large balcony Deluxe rooms as well as the Standard Rooms are located on the ground floor with terrace

The deluxe rooms have outdoor terraces while the superior deluxe rooms have the advantage of balconies where you can sunbathe in relative privacy and from some enjoy a view of the Indian Ocean

All rooms are tastefully decorated in ivory tones with cotton throws teak wood finishes and Zanzibar carvings The ensuite bathrooms are small and functional like in any standard European hotel with curtained shower handbasin sit-down toilet The tap-water was slightly brackish when we visited but bottled mineral water is provided

Whichever room you choose you ll be welcomed with fresh flowers on your bedspread

All the rooms have full air-conditioning with en suite bathrooms a refrigerator mosquito nets mini-bar easy chairs desk ceiling fan and personal safe box

Zanzibar is famous for its abundant variety of exotic spices and seafood delicacies found in the untouched waters of the Indian Ocean The hotel s chef prepares a delicious variety of cuisine incorporating traditional Zanzibari elements You can enjoy fresh lobster on the beachfront everyday along with a number of other special items including our Breakers barbecue and fresh catch of the day

The Eastern side of the island is influenced dramatically by the tide At high tide you can plunge into the warm water and swim out from the top of the beach At low tide the water recedes towards the distant fringing reef so you ll need to walk out far in the shallows looking at the starfish and sea cucumbers and minding you don t step on a sea urchin The gloriously large swimming pool is a welcome alternative for cooling off during low tide
