Bluebay Beach Resort is situated on the finest wide white sandy beach on the island of Zanzibar Located on the East Coast in an area known as Kiwengwa the hotel is only 35 minutes drive from the town and the airport on a recently built tarmac road

Situated on the most beautiful 25 acre site with bedroom cottages located on rising ground overlooking verdant gardens the public areas the pool the more than 1 000 beautiful palm trees the sparkling white beach and the azure sea with its coral reef offering particularly warm and safe swimming

Appropriately named it s set along a beautiful stretch of idyllic palm-fringed white beach with deep-blue sea in the Kiwengwa area on the northeast coast Unfortunately the beauty of this region has attracted several other big resorts and Bluebay is almost in the middle of them If you re a fan of luxury beach hotels with all the bells and whistles which could be located in any tropical setting this won t faze you one bit But for the adventurous traveller there are wilder more remote lodgings to choose from on Zanzibar which are more in tune with local village life

The Rooms

Blue Bay offers superior deluxe and sultan rooms all facing palm-fringed beaches with magnificent views of the Indian ocean and each consists of spacious en suite bedroom dressing room and private veranda or balcony

All rooms are tastefully decorated using traditional Zanzibari furniture to include large four poster beds with mosquito nets a writing bureau coffee table and easy chairs Split level air conditioners ceiling fans satellite TV s mini-bars hair dryers and telephones add a touch of luxury to each room whilst the presence of smoke detectors and fire alarms are a sign of our commitment to the safety and well-being of our guests

The deluxe rooms have larger lounges and veranda areas The Deluxe rooms have special feature of an outside double shower in a private garden and a sunken bath in the very spacious bathroom

The Sultan Rooms are the essence of luxury and are situated directly on the beach and guests have the feeling of being a sultan being attended by a private butler Situated on the very edge of the Indian Ocean only a few metres from the brilliant white sandy beach of Kiwengwa these two Sultan Rooms are attended by Butlers dressed in flowing traditional Swahili robes whose sole aim is to ensure that your every need is met and surpassed

The public areas are open and airy and both the lounge and dining area overlook the pool and the sea beyond The bungalows are thatched with makuti palms to blend in with the tropical environment

The environment

As a guest of our hotel you will be pleased to know that Bluebay Beach Resort is committed to the preservation of the environment These are some of the ways in which we protecting our environment for future generations

We employ reverse osmosis technology to purify underground water in order to make it fit for human consumption This reduces the impact of the hotel on Zanzibar s fresh water resources

We have taken this one step further by also installing a wastewater treatment plant which recycles all room kitchen and laundry wastewater This in turn is used to maintain our beautiful tropical gardens thus further reducing our impact on the islands water supply

The lush tropical gardens have themselves been landscaped using indigenous trees plants shrubs and ground cover in order to attract the varied bird species of the island as well as to provide an insight to visitors of the diverse tropical vegetation on Zanzibar
