Location and Geography
Undoubtedly the most fascinating Continent on earth, Africa offers a host of exciting and unique holiday opportunities – excellent game viewing, superb beach holidays, cosmopolitan cities and some of the most magnificent scenery in the world.
South Africa is a land of great contrasts, with an abundance of natural beauty. The country boasts a 3000km coastline, stretching from the Atlantic in the west to the Indian Ocean in the east. Perched at the tip of the African Continent, South Africa is a holiday-makers paradise.
Cape Town, the ‘Mother City’, is perched on a lush peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic. With its dramatic Table Mountain backdrop and inspiring ocean views, it is undisputedly one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa and business capital of Africa, offers excellent shopping, clubs, bars and top class restaurants offering international standard cuisine, served in a convivial atmosphere. Johannesburg is a good stopover destination with excellent five star hotels, situated within close proximity to the busiest airport on the continent.
Nearby exists the glorious Sun City Resort where you can gamble, eat, watch extravaganzas, relax on the artificial beach and swim in the man-made waves or just stare in awe at the fantastic architecture of the Lost City.
The Kruger Park which stretches 350km from north to south is home to great numbers and varieties of amphibians, reptiles, birds and 147 mammal species, including the Big Five. The park offers excellent game viewing in open top vehicles.
Botswana is home to the bafflingly beautiful and mysterious Okavango delta comprising of diverse habitats where mammals, fish and birds reside. This wild and very beautiful country is one of the few places in Africa which remains completely unspoilt, offering luxurious accommodation in beautiful game lodges.
The Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe are situated in a corner of Africa where three countries (Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana) meet at the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. The falls are said to be more than 150 000 million years old and are truly one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Activities range from fishing on the Zambezi, sunset cruises, white water rafting to helicopter flips, bungi jumping and game drives.
Climate
Southern Africa generally enjoys a warm climate all year round with midwinter in June/July and midsummer in December/January.
What
to wear
For the summer months pack lightweight clothing but include a jacket for the occasional chilly night. Neutral colours and sensible walking shoes are best for safaris. Clothing is generally informal, however in the more up-market hotels/lodges, smart-casual attire is often required.

Health
It is strongly recommended to take malaria prophylaxis whilst visiting malaria areas. Sunscreen lotions and sun hats are also recommended at all times when participating in outdoor activities.
